Cmc Hospital

Being located on Ida Scudder Road means things are always moving at Cmc Hospital. You notice the rhythm of the place once you spend enough time here. The morning shift starts early when it’s still a bit cool out, and then by midday, the whole area around Ida Scudder Road is just buzzing. We have a lot of different departments spread out, and sometimes it takes a minute to figure out which way to turn. It is a busy hospital, and we don't really have much downtime. You see people carrying folders and reports everywhere you look. The staff knows where the good tea is just outside the gates when there is a short break. It’s not fancy or anything, just a place where a lot of work gets done. Sometimes the fans are humming loudly overhead while people wait their turn. We’ve seen the neighborhood change over the years, but the hospital stays pretty much the same, just maybe a bit more crowded than it used to be. It’s a lot of walking back and forth between the different sections. Everyone has a job to do, and we just get on with it. You get used to the noise of the traffic outside and the constant chatter in the waiting rooms. It is a big operation to keep running, and there are always new faces coming in through the main entrance looking for help with something or other.
