Book Mart

We are located at 9/7 Lakshmi Puram in Salaven Pet. Book Mart is just a regular shop where we keep a variety of things for people to read. The building itself is nothing out of the ordinary, and the street stays pretty quiet most mornings. We open up early and start by dusting off the covers. It’s a small operation here. Usually, it's just one or two of us working. We have rows of shelves that take up most of the floor space. You have to walk sideways in some parts of the store because of how close the racks are. People from the neighborhood stop in quite often. Some are just looking to kill time, others are looking for something specific for school. We don't have a computer system that tracks everything perfectly, so we rely on memory a lot. If you ask for a book, we usually know which pile it’s in. Salaven Pet is a nice place to be. We’ve got a window that looks out onto the street, which is good for people-watching when it’s raining. The floorboards creak a little near the back. We try to keep things tidy, but paper has a way of getting messy. It’s a simple life, surrounded by books and the smell of old paper. We don't do much in the way of advertising. People just know we are here at number 9/7. We’ll probably stay here as long as we can fit more books inside.
