Indian Navy

This is the spot at 202-S Varunapuri up on Mangor Hill. It’s part of the Indian Navy setup here in Vasco-Da-Gama. Goa is a busy place for the navy, and this is where a lot of the living and admin happens. It’s not like a movie set; it’s just a regular navy housing area and office space. We’ve got the hills on one side and the town below. People here are mostly sailors and their families, or folks working for the service. We keep a routine because that’s how things work here. It’s a practical life. You see people in uniform, and you see kids going to school. We deal with the local logistics and making sure the housing is okay. It gets humid, and the rain in the monsoon is something else. We just get on with it. There’s no fancy lobby or anything like that. It’s just a bunch of blocks where people do their duty. We’ve been at this address for years. It’s a familiar part of the Mangor Hill landscape. We don’t need to talk ourselves up. Everyone knows what the navy does. We’re just the ones making sure this particular corner of it runs smoothly every single day. It’s a lot of maintenance and simple tasks. The local shops in Vasco know us well. It’s a quiet life until a new rotation comes in.
