Our workshop is over in Chulna Village, not too far from Fatima Mata Church. If you’re heading that way, you’ll probably hear the sound of welding or grinding before you see us. We handle a bit of everything here, from fixing iron gates to sorting out electrical wiring when something goes wrong in a house nearby. It’s usually dusty and loud because of the machines. We have piles of metal rods and coils of wire sitting around the edges of the shop. Sometimes we get called out to help someone with a fuse box that’s acting up. It's not a clean job, our hands are usually covered in grease or soot by lunchtime. The church is a good landmark for people trying to find us for the first time. We’ve been at this for some years now. Most of our tools are old but they still work fine for what we need to do. We don't spend much time sitting down. There's always something that needs to be cut or joined together. Some days are slower than others, especially when it rains hard and the village gets quiet. We just keep the doors open and wait for the next person who needs a repair. It's just a regular local spot where we get our hands dirty and try to make things work again. We know the neighbors and they know us. Most of the time we are just working through the list of jobs we have for the week. It keeps us busy.
