Vashu Hair Cutting Salon is on Orderly Bazar Road in Varanasi. We are situated near the Lt Tiraha. It’s a busy junction and there’s always something happening outside. The shop is small and has a very old feel to it. I’ve been running this place for many years. We have the usual things you’d expect—mirrors, chairs, and several pairs of scissors. We don't do anything complicated. Mostly just the basic cuts and shaves that people in Orderly Bazar want. The shop floor is a bit uneven, and the paint is peeling off the ceiling. But the customers don't mind. They come here for the talk and a simple trim. We have a small plastic clock on the wall that’s always five minutes fast. There’s a tea stall right outside, so the smell of ginger tea often comes inside. We don't have a big sign, just the name written on the glass. In the evenings, the shop gets quite full of people waiting their turn. We don't use any fancy machines, just our hands and the tools. It’s a very traditional way of working. People in Varanasi like things to stay the same, and we haven't changed much over the years. It’s just a local spot where you can get your hair sorted out without any drama or high prices. There is a small stool in the corner for bags. We keep a spray bottle on the shelf.
