Utisthata Foundation

Our office is over at 41/166, Khargupur Hathibajar, care of Ajit Kumar Mishra. Utisthata Foundation started because a few of us felt like we should be doing more for the local area. We don't have a big staff or a fancy building. It’s just a practical space where we can meet and figure things out. Most days you’ll find one or two of us shuffling papers or talking on the phone. We don't use those polished slogans you see on TV. We’re just trying to be useful. Hathibajar is a busy spot, and we like being right in the middle of it. Sometimes the traffic outside is so loud we have to shout to be heard, but that's just how it is here. We focus on getting things done rather than talking about them. If someone has a problem, they usually just walk in and ask for Ajit or whoever is around. We do a lot of different things, whatever seems most needed at the time. It’s not a strictly organized corporate environment. It’s more like a group of neighbors working together. We’ve had some long nights in this office, but it’s worth it when things actually get finished. We don’t have any grand plans to change the whole world, just our little part of it here in Khargupur.
