Suresh Singh Memorial Hospital

Suresh Singh Memorial Hospital is out on Ghazipur Road in the Pahariya area. It was named after Suresh Singh, and we try to keep that memory going by just being a dependable place for the local people. Ghazipur Road is always busy. There’s a lot of trucks and dust coming off the road, so we’re constantly cleaning the front steps. Pahariya has grown a lot lately and we see more and more people every month. The hospital itself is a straightforward building. We don’t have fancy art on the walls or leather sofas in the lobby. It’s just rows of chairs and some fans on the ceiling. The staff is mostly local people from around this part of town. We have a few doctors who have been here forever and they know the history of almost every family that walks through the door. It gets pretty loud during the day with the traffic and the people talking in the corridors. We don't have a fancy computer system for everything. A lot of our records are still kept in those big thick registers. It might seem old-fashioned to some, but it works for us and we don't lose anything when the internet goes down. Sometimes we run out of chairs when it's really busy and people just lean against the walls. Nobody complains much. We just get through the day as best as we can. It’s a busy, honest sort of place for the community.
