Shuruart Foundation

Shuruart Foundation is based at Flat No. 42 in Siddharth Enclave. That’s in the Brij Enclave Colony area of Varanasi. It’s a pretty quiet residential spot, which is nice for getting work done. We aren’t some big institution. It’s just a flat where we’ve set up some desks and computers. Varanasi can be a very loud city, but it’s a bit calmer back here. We started this because we felt there was a gap that needed filling. We don’t have a big budget for fancy things, so we keep it simple. The paint on the walls is a bit old, and we could probably use some better chairs, but it works for us. We spend our days coordinating things and talking to locals. It’s not always exciting work. A lot of it is just staying organized and making sure things happen when they’re supposed to. We don’t have a marketing department telling us what to say. We just tell it like it is. It’s a small team, and we all wear many hats. If you come by, you’ll likely find us buried in work or drinking some tea while we plan the next step. That’s just how it is at Shuruart. We’re just regular people trying to do something decent in our corner of the world. It’s not polished, but we put in the hours and care about what happens here in our neighborhood.
