Shivpur Clinic

Shivpur Clinic is located right in the heart of the Shivpur area in Varanasi. It’s not a very big place, just a simple clinic where we see patients from the local neighborhood. The building is an older one, and you can tell by the way the windows are set and how the walls look. We don’t have any big neon signs or anything like that. There’s just a board outside with the name on it. Inside, there is a small desk where we take down names and a few chairs for people to sit while they wait. Varanasi can be a very dusty and loud city, and Shivpur is no different. You can always hear the traffic from the main road nearby. Most of our day is spent talking to people who have small health issues, like a fever, a bad cough, or a stomach ache. We keep a stock of basic medicines and bandages in the back room. It’s a very local feel here; we know many of the patients by their first names because they’ve been coming to us for years. Sometimes someone will bring in a bit of sweets if they’re feeling better, which is a nice gesture. We don’t have a website or a big advertising budget at all. We just open the doors every morning, sweep the floor, and do what needs to be done. It’s a practical, no-nonsense kind of place. If you are looking for a fancy medical center with marble floors and uniformed staff, this isn't it. But if you live in Shivpur, you probably know where we are.
