Shivani Mansi General Store

Shivani Mansi General Store is right at the Pandeypur Chauraha. We are on the Paigamberpur side of the Pandeypur Road in Varanasi. This is a very busy intersection. There is always a lot of noise and people moving about. Our shop is a busy little place because of where we are located. We sell everything from milk and eggs in the morning to cleaning supplies and toiletries. I run the store with my family. We don't have many employees, maybe just a helper for the heavy lifting. The shelves are packed with all kinds of boxes and packets. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than three people are inside at once. We know most of the people who live in the nearby houses. They come to us because we are convenient and they know us. Sometimes we have to deal with the electricity going out, which is common here. We just keep going. We don’t have a fancy sign or anything, just the name of the store painted above the door. It’s hard work and the days are long, but it’s a living. We see the city wake up and go to sleep from this counter. If you need something for your home or just a quick drink while waiting for a rickshaw at the chauraha, we are right here. We try to keep everything fresh and the prices are what they are. Every day is the same, but that is fine with us. We work hard to stay stocked up on the things folks need most.
