Saas Bahu Ladies Beauty Parlour & Ladies Corner

This shop is in Chauhan Katra, right in the Pandeypur area of Varanasi. It's a bit of a funny name, I know, but people remember it easily. We are close to the chauraha, so there is always a lot of traffic and noise outside. We call it a Ladies Corner because we don't just do hair and makeup. We also keep small things like bangles, bindis, and some safety pins that ladies often need. It's a crowded little space with shelves full of stuff. When wedding season comes, Pandeypur gets very busy and our shop is full of talk and people. I spend a lot of time organizing the bangles by color. The beauty parlour part is in the back room. We have two chairs there. Sometimes the power goes out, and we have to use the hand fans to keep the customers cool. Varanasi is like that sometimes. My daughter-in-law helps me with the threading and the henna designs. We have many regulars who have been coming since we first opened the doors. They sit and talk about their families while we work. It’s a very local feel here. We don't have any fancy posters on the walls, just a calendar and some photos of hairstyles. It’s a bit cramped when five people come in at once, but we make it work somehow. It’s just a neighborhood shop for local people in our community.
