S S Int Bhatta is located in Munari Bazar in the Chaubeypur area. Running a brick kiln, or a bhatta as we call it, means you are always at the mercy of the elements. We are right by the market, so there is always a lot of activity and people coming and going. The soil around here is good for making these bricks, and we spend a lot of time getting the consistency just right before they are molded. It’s a seasonal business, so when the weather is good, we are working from dawn until after dark. The kiln is a big structure and it takes a lot of fuel and attention to keep the fire at the right temperature for days at a time. We don’t have a polished website or a bunch of slogans. We just have a lot of bricks and a lot of dirt. Chaubeypur is a place where people appreciate honest work, and that is what we try to provide. In the Munari Bazar area, word travels fast, so we just focus on making sure the bricks are hard and ready for building. You’ll usually see us covered in a bit of soot or mud, depending on what part of the process we are handling that day. It is not a glamorous job, but it is necessary for all the new construction happening around the bazar. We keep the fires going and the stacks growing every single season.
