Raj Herbal Clinic

Our clinic is located right opposite the Adarsh Inter College Maidan. It’s a good spot because there is a lot of open space across the street where the kids play sports and people go for walks. At Raj Herbal Clinic, we do things a bit differently than the big hospitals. We work mostly with plants and natural things, so the office usually smells a bit like dried leaves and spices. It’s a small shop, really, with shelves full of jars and bottles that we’ve organized over the years. We don't have a lot of staff—just a couple of us who know where everything is kept. The building is older, with high ceilings and doors that sometimes creak when the wind blows across the maidan. We spend a lot of our time talking to people about their daily habits and what they eat. It’s a slow process, not like the quick-fix places you see in the city center. We like the pace here. Sometimes people just stop by to ask a question while they are on their way to the college or the market. We don't have a computer to check people in; we just remember faces or look through our handwritten notebooks. It’s a very traditional way of doing things, and it suits the neighborhood. We keep the front porch swept and the windows open to catch the breeze from the field across the road, which helps keep the air fresh inside.
