Prajapati Dhanbhai Kachrabhai

I’ve been working out of Pahariya for a long time now. My place is right opposite the Surbhi Hotel, which most people around here know. It’s a busy part of Varanasi, and there’s always something going on in the street. The name on the sign is Prajapati Dhanbhai Kachrabhai, and I mostly deal with building work and planning. It’s not a big corporate setup with a lot of staff. It’s more of a personal operation. People come to me when they have a plot of land and don't know where to start. I spend my time drawing out where the rooms should go and how the foundation should be laid. I’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, with more shops and houses filling up the empty spaces. My office is quite basic, just a place to keep my paperwork and meet people. I don't use fancy computer programs for everything; sometimes a pencil and a scale are better for explaining things. It’s practical work. I don't promise anything fancy, just a solid plan that works for the family living there. Sometimes I’m out on a site checking the bricks, and other times I’m sitting here waiting for the electricity to stay on so I can finish a drawing. It’s a simple life, and I like being my own boss in this part of town. People know where to find me if they need help with their house projects.
