Pehchano India Foundation

Our foundation is based in the village of Sukhpur Solhani, and we operate out of Renu Kumari’s place. Sukhpur is a quiet spot where everyone is mostly busy with their own daily work and families. We chose the name Pehchano India because we felt like people should recognize the strength we have right here in our own villages. We are not a big organization with lots of funding. It is just a small local effort run out of a house in the village. We spend our time talking to the women and the families in the panchayat about how they can improve their lives or get more involved in local things. It is very informal here. People just walk in when they have a minute to spare from their chores. We do not have a set schedule most of the time, we just work when there is work to be done. Sometimes we meet under a tree if the house is too hot. We are just trying to bring a bit of awareness to the folks in Sukhpur Solhani so they feel more confident about their place in the country. It is not about big speeches or fancy events, just small conversations and helping out where we can. We are proud of our village and we just want to help our neighbors feel that same pride and recognition.
