Pankaj Saloon

If you go down Maqbool Alam Road in Pandeypur, Varanasi, you will find Pankaj Saloon. We are right opposite the Laxmi Memorial Hospital, near the Khajuri Chauraha. It’s a very busy intersection, so there is always a lot of noise from the ambulances and the horns outside. Our shop is just a small spot on this busy road. We have a few chairs and some old pictures on the wall of different hair styles. People have been coming here for many years. It’s the kind of place where you can just sit and watch the world go by through the front window. Varanasi is a crowded city, and this area is no different. We get all sorts of people, from hospital workers to people just passing through the chauraha. The floor is usually covered in hair until we get a chance to sweep at night. We don't have any fancy air conditioning, just a couple of wall fans that hum all day. It’s a simple life running a saloon here. We don't really bother with big ads or anything like that. Everyone around Pandeypur knows where Pankaj Saloon is. We just focus on the work and talking to whoever is sitting in the chair. It’s a basic setup, but it’s been our home for a long time now. We just keep doing what we know every day without much fuss.
