Our place is at No. 1-A-66 in the Awas Vikas Colony. It’s a residential area in Pandeypur, so it’s a bit quieter than the main markets. You can usually smell the incense sticks before you even reach the gate. That’s what we do here at Anand Agarbatti Company. We have different scents like jasmine, sandalwood, and rose piled up in the storage room. Most of the work involves packing them into boxes and getting them ready for the shops. It’s a family-run kind of thing. The house is always filled with that sweet, heavy scent of agarbatti. Sometimes the powder gets on everything, so we’re constantly cleaning. We have a few local ladies who come by to help with the packaging. It’s a lot of manual work, sitting on the floor and sorting the sticks. We’ve been in this colony for years and the neighbors are used to the smell by now. We don't have a big fancy storefront. People just come to the house if they want to buy in bulk or place an order. Pandeypur is a busy part of town, but our little corner in Awas Vikas is manageable. We spend the mornings taking inventory and the afternoons sending out the rickshaws with the stock. It’s a simple life and a simple business. We just try to get the orders right and keep things moving along. Sometimes we run out of boxes and have to scramble to get more, but it usually works out in the end.
