We are located over in Matawarganj, right at Bechoo Singh’s place. It’s a familiar spot for anyone who lives in this part of town. The office isn’t much to look at from the outside, just a plain door and a small sign. Inside, we’ve got some desks pushed together and a few shelves for the paperwork we have to keep. We started operating here because it was a central enough location for people to reach us on foot or by cycle. There is usually someone here from mid-morning until the sun goes down. We don't have a fancy website or a phone system with recordings. Usually, if you call, one of us just picks up the phone and says hello. It’s a bit old-fashioned, maybe, but it works for the folks in Matawarganj. The floors are concrete and we have a small fan that rattles a bit when it's on high. We spend our days mostly writing in ledgers and talking to people who come in with their savings or questions. It's a quiet life for the most part. We know the names of most people who walk through that door. Sometimes we sit outside on the bench when it’s not too hot. We just focus on getting the daily tasks done without making a big fuss about it. We are just part of the neighborhood landscape now. It works out well for everyone involved in the daily grind.
