People walk in from the neighborhood to talk about their money or see how their savings are doing. We try to keep the atmosphere relaxed. There’s usually a pot of tea somewhere and a lot of paper on the desks. We handle the paperwork for the Nidhi company and make sure we follow the rules. Varanasi is a busy place, but Old Ramnagar has its own rhythm. We fit into that. Sometimes we get a bit behind on the filing when it’s busy, but we always catch up by the end of the week. It’s just a normal office doing normal work for the people living nearby. We like being in this part of the city. It’s where we belong and we just keep doing our bit every day. It is not much, but it is what we know how to do, and we stay here from morning until the sun goes down.
