Finflex Micro Foundation

We are tucked away in Varanasi, working out of Budhana Devi’s place. It’s a bit of a trek to get here if you don’t know the area, but the 221206 zip code usually gets people to the right neighborhood. Finflex Micro Foundation is what we put on the paperwork, but to the people around here, we are just the folks who help with the small stuff. We don't deal in millions. We deal in the small amounts that help a family get a shop started or fix a roof. It’s basic work but it feels important. The room we use is simple. We have a couple of desks and a lot of tea. We probably drink more chai than we should, but it helps when you’re looking at ledgers all day. We don’t have a big marketing budget or some polished image to maintain. We’re just local people helping other local people. Sometimes it’s loud outside with the Varanasi traffic, but we just keep our heads down and get on with the math. It’s not a glamorous life, and we aren't trying to pretend it is. We just want to make sure people have a fair shot at things. If the paperwork is right and the person is honest, we do what we can to make the micro-funding work out for them. It is just about getting by.
