Expression Dance Troupe

We are located at C 27/186 on the road that goes from Lahurabir to Jagatganj. It’s a busy part of Varanasi, and we are right near the Pradeep Hotel. Our space isn't huge, but it's enough for us to practice our routines. You can usually hear the music from the street before you even get inside. The floors take a beating every day from all the dancing, and we are constantly sweeping up dust that blows in from the main road. Being a dance troupe means a lot of late nights and sore muscles. We have bags of costumes piled up in the corners, some with sequins falling off and others waiting to be mended. It gets really humid in here when there are ten or fifteen people moving around at once, so we have the big industrial fans going. Sometimes we get called to perform at local weddings or school functions, and then it’s a rush to get everyone’s outfits ready and the steps synchronized. We aren't some fancy academy; we are just a group of people who really like to move. The noise from the Jagat Ganj traffic is always there in the background, but we just turn the speakers up a bit louder. It’s a lot of hard work and sweat, but we’ve been doing it for years now.
