We started this small office in Mahmoorganj because we saw people in Varanasi needed a bit of extra cash for their small shops or home repairs. It isn’t a fancy place, just a few desks and chairs where we sit and talk to folks from around the 221002 zip code. Most mornings start with tea and going over the paperwork for the micro-loans. It gets busy here, especially on market days when everyone is out and about. We handle the credit side of things for people who might not want to deal with the big banks in the city center. It’s mostly just us keeping track of who needs what and making sure the small amounts get to the right hands. The streets around here are usually crowded, so we get a lot of walk-ins just asking how it works. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It is just a handful of us working through the files every day. Sometimes the power goes out, or the internet is slow, but we manage to get the entries done. Working in credit foundation work means a lot of numbers, but we try to keep the atmosphere relaxed. If you walk past the Mahmoorganj area, you’ll probably see our sign. It's nothing special to look at, but it’s where we do our daily work helping the local community manage their small finances without too much fuss. We have been here for a while now and most neighbors know us.
