Beadman Inc.

We’re based out of C-15/314 in Lallapura. If you’ve ever walked through the lanes of Lallapura, you know how tight the streets are and how you have to watch your step for the cycle rickshaws. Beadman Inc. is tucked into one of these lanes, and it’s a very local operation. The building is old, and the stairs are a bit steep and uneven. Inside, the rooms are filled with sacks of beads waiting to be sorted or sent out. It’s often quite noisy with the sounds of the neighborhood—kids playing, vendors calling out, and the general hum of the city. We don’t have air conditioning, so we keep the windows open and hope for a breeze, though mostly we just get the dust. We work mostly on the floor on mats because it’s easier to spread the beads out that way. It’s a simple life, and we’ve been doing this for years. The light in the afternoons is the best for seeing the true colors of the glass we handle. We don’t have a website that works very well, and we mostly deal with people we’ve known for a long time. It’s just us here, doing the work by hand and making sure the bags are weighed correctly before they leave the shop. There is no rush, just the steady work of sorting through the glass.
