Shandilya International

Our place, Shandilya International, is situated right out by Babatpu Airport. Being this close to the runway means we hear the planes taking off and landing all day long. It becomes like background noise after a week of working here. The road out this way can be quite dusty, especially when the big trucks go by. We have a warehouse space where we keep everything that’s moving in or out. It’s a lot of cardboard boxes, tape, and pallets stacked up. The office is just a small partitioned area in the corner where the computer stays. Most of the time we are on our feet, checking labels or moving crates around to make room for the next delivery. It isn't a glamorous job, and your clothes usually end up a bit dirty by the end of the shift. We drink a lot of water because it gets dry out here near the open fields. Sometimes travelers who got lost on their way to the terminal pop their heads in to ask for directions. We don't have a fancy lobby or a sign with flashing lights. It’s just a functional space where we handle the logistics of moving goods. The crew is small, just a few of us who know where everything is kept. We start early to beat the main airport traffic and we leave once the last manifest is signed for the day. It’s straightforward, honest work in a busy spot.
