You’ll find B L Memorial Hospital right along NH-2 in Handia. Because we are near the highway, we see a lot of different things. It’s not just the local people from Handia who come in, but also folks traveling through who might have had an accident or just got sick on the road. The location makes us very easy to find. The hospital building is a sturdy one. It’s seen a lot of use over the years. Inside, it’s usually pretty loud with the sound of the traffic from the NH-2 echoing a bit. We have the usual emergency area and wards for people staying over. The staff is used to the fast pace that comes with being on a major road. We don't have any of those luxury waiting rooms or expensive art on the walls. It’s all very functional and practical. We use every bit of space we have. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to switch over to the generator, which makes a lot of noise. We just keep going regardless. It’s a busy life here at the hospital. We see people at their worst and sometimes at their best when they get to go home. We just take it one day at a time and do what’s required. There is always a lot to do, from cleaning the floors to updating the patient charts. We stay at it because the hospital needs to be ready.
