Anvar General Store

Out here in Gram Kohasi Thana Cholapur, things are usually pretty steady. This store is in Ghamahapur which is a bit of a walk for some but people in Varanasi know how to get around. It's just a small place Anvar General Store where we keep the usual stuff people need for their kitchens. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit in the dark for a bit until it comes back on. It is not a big supermarket like you see in the city center. We just have shelves and some old jars for sweets. The floor is concrete and it’s seen better days but it holds up. Most of the time I am just sitting behind the counter watching the world go by on the street outside. Customers come in talking about the weather or the crops. It feels like a small community because it is one. We don't really do much advertising. People just know we are here in Varanasi 221105 if they run out of salt or matches. Dealing with the suppliers can be a headache when the roads are bad after the rain. But we manage to keep the milk and bread coming in most mornings. It is just a regular life running a shop in a village. You don't expect much and you just keep going. Every day is pretty much the same as the one before.
