Being located in Janki Nagar in the Kakarmatta area of Varanasi keeps us quite connected to the local life here. We are over by Bari Patia, and the address N-9/90-1-B is what most people look for on their maps. Our clinic focuses on Aayurveda, so there are always various herbs and traditional bottles around the place. It smells like roots and oils most of the time. We don't have a lot of fancy equipment because that’s not what we do here. Instead, we have wooden shelves and some simple furniture for people to sit on while they wait. The neighborhood is mostly houses, so it’s a bit quieter than the main city center. We spend a lot of time talking to patients about their daily habits. It’s not a fast process. Sometimes the rain makes the road outside a bit muddy, but people still find their way to us. We’ve been in this spot for some time now. The light inside isn’t the brightest, but it’s enough to see what we are doing. We write out notes by hand and keep things in folders. It’s a very hands-on way of working. Most of the people who come here are from around Varanasi and they just want something natural. We open the doors, settle in, and wait for the first person to knock. It is a quiet existence but we feel it's necessary for the work we do.
