The State Bank of India branch here is located right near the GIDC Police Station. It’s a busy spot because of all the industrial activity in the GIDC area. You’ll usually see a lot of people standing around outside or waiting by the ATM. Inside, the bank is often full of noise, with the sound of the dot matrix printers going and people talking at the counters. We spend a lot of time handling passbooks, checking forms, and dealing with cash. It’s not the quietest place to work, especially when the fans are whirring on high speed during the summer. Being so close to the police station means there’s always some activity on the road outside. We have the usual bank furniture—heavy desks and those blue plastic chairs for customers. Sometimes the line gets long and people get a bit impatient, but we just keep moving through the tokens one by one. Our days are mostly filled with paperwork and computer entries. It’s a very standard government-style bank atmosphere. There’s no fancy lounge or free coffee here, just the basic services people need for their accounts. We take our breaks in the small room in the back and then get back to the counters. It’s a lot of repetitive work, but it’s what keeps the branch running every day for the folks around the GIDC area who need to get their banking done.
