Our place is Shop No. 7 over in the 40 Shed Area of the GIDC in Vapi. Being in the industrial zone means it is never really quiet. There is always the sound of some machine or a truck reversing somewhere nearby. We are on Plot No. 728/1. The shop isn't much to look at, just a plain front with some old signs. Inside, we have racks piled high with all sorts of things that the local factories might need. It’s a lot of metal and heavy items, so the floor has a few scratches and dents from over the years. I spend a lot of time on the phone talking to suppliers or trying to track down a specific part for someone. Vapi is a busy place, and being in the GIDC keeps us on our toes. Sometimes the rain gets quite heavy and the water pools up a bit near the entrance, so we have to be careful with the stock. My son helps me out on his days off from college. We have an old desk where we keep the bills and a small radio that usually plays the local news. It’s just a normal trading business. We don't have fancy displays or anything like that. People come in, ask for what they need, we find it, and they go on their way. I usually stay until seven in the evening before locking up the gates and heading home for my dinner. It is a long day but the work is steady.
