We’ve been over here at Plot No. Dg-08 in the Dungra Garment Zone for a good while now. It’s right on the edge of Vapi, almost toward Mumbai, so the traffic is always a bit of a headache in the mornings. Inside the mill, it’s mostly just the sound of the machines running all day long. We deal with knitting, which basically means a lot of yarn coming in and finished rolls going out. The dust from the fabric settles on everything if you don't keep up with the cleaning. It’s a busy spot. Most of us have been working here for years, so we all know each other’s lunch schedules and who prefers their tea with extra sugar. The area around Dungra is mostly industrial, so it isn't exactly a scenic place to work, but it gets the job done. We spend a lot of time checking the needles and making sure the tension on the machines is right because if one thing goes wrong, the whole batch gets messed up. It’s practical work. We don’t have fancy offices or anything like that. Just some desks in the corner and a lot of space for the inventory. Some days it gets really hot under the roof, especially in the summer months when the Vapi humidity kicks in. We just keep our heads down and handle the orders as they come through the door. It isn't always perfect, but we stay busy.
