About Panjayat Union Primary School – Education in Vaniyambadi
If you walk down Bajanai Koil Street in Kilveedhi, you’ll find us right there. We are a small primary school in this part of Vellore and things are usually pretty busy from Monday to Friday. Most of the kids come from just a few streets over. They show up with their bags and wait for the gate to open. The morning assembly is usually when it feels the most like a school, with everyone standing in rows under the sun. We don't have fancy gadgets or anything, just the usual blackboards and some old wooden benches that have seen better days. The teachers spend their time checking notebooks and trying to keep the younger ones focused on their reading. Sometimes a stray dog wanders into the yard and the kids get all excited, so we have to shoo it out. It’s just the way it is here. Lunchtime means metal tiffin boxes clinking and kids sitting in the shade of the building. We try to keep the place tidy, though with so many children running around, there is always some dirt being tracked in. By the time three o'clock rolls around, everyone is ready to head home. The street gets crowded with parents and bicycles for twenty minutes, and then it’s peaceful again. We’ve been part of this neighborhood for years, just doing what needs to be done for the local families and keeping the gates open every morning.
