About H J Leather – Fashion & Trends in Vaniyambadi
People usually find us here at No. 349 Patel Yaghhob Street by the smell of the hides before they even see the sign. It’s been H J Leather for as long as I can remember. My hands are always a bit stained from the dyes we use, and the floor is usually covered in small scraps of brown and black offcuts. It isn't a fancy place. We have some old wooden benches and a couple of heavy sewing machines that make a lot of noise when they get going. Most days, it’s just the sound of someone cutting through thick material or the bell on the door ringing when a neighbor pops in to say hello. Sometimes the dust from the workshop gets everywhere, so we spend a lot of time just sweeping up. It's a lot of work handling these heavy rolls of leather, and my back feels it by the end of the afternoon. We don’t really have a front office or anything like that, just the main room where everything happens. You can see the tools hanging on the wall and the different piles of skins waiting to be turned into something useful. It gets hot in the summer because the windows are small, but we keep the fans going. It's just a regular spot where we try to get things done right and keep the place running. There’s always coffee brewing in the corner, though it usually goes cold before anyone drinks it.
