Our place is at Tannery 1142/ A on Cutchery Road. It’s a tough environment at Azeem Mubeen Exporters, and we don't try to hide that. Working near a tannery means you get used to certain smells and the hard work that comes with leather. Cutchery Road is always noisy with carts and bikes. Inside our space, it’s mostly about the raw materials. We spend the day sorting through skins and checking for any marks or holes. It’s physical work that leaves your hands feeling rough by the end of the shift. We don't have any fancy air conditioning, just some big fans that move the air around. You won't find any glossy brochures here. We just have our ledgers and our tools. The floor is concrete and often stained, which is just part of the business. We take our breaks sitting outside on the ledge when the sun isn't too hot. Most of the people working here have been doing this for years, so we don't need to say much to each other to get things done. We know the routine. At 1142/ A, we just focus on getting the exports ready. It’s not glamorous, but it’s how we make a living. When the day is over, we wash up and head out, leaving the heavy work for the next morning. It’s a straightforward way to live and work.
