We are based in Umbergaon at Plot No 280/1 in the Gidc area. Vaibhav Fitting India Pvt. Ltd. has been here in Valsad for quite a while now. It’s a coastal town, so the air is a bit salty, which we have to watch out for with our metal fittings so they don't get ruined. The factory floor is pretty big, and we have rows of machines making different types of pipe parts and connectors. It’s a busy place with a lot of clinking sounds as the parts fall into the collection bins. We have a decent-sized crew working in shifts to keep up with everything. Most of the workers come in from the surrounding villages in Gujarat. The office is just a couple of rooms near the front entrance where we keep the registers and the one computer we use. We don't have much time for small talk during the day because there’s always a quota to hit. Sometimes the power goes out in the Gidc, and we all just take a break outside until it comes back on. It’s a pretty standard life in an industrial estate. We make sure the fittings are packed into sacks or boxes properly before they go onto the delivery trucks. The road outside can get a bit muddy during the monsoon, but the trucks still manage to get through. It’s just honest work making things that people need for their plumbing and construction projects.
