We are located right on Umbergaon Road. It’s been our spot for quite a long time now. Most days here start early when the first truck arrives with timber. The yard gets pretty dusty, especially in the summer months, but that’s just how it is when you work with wood. We’ve got saws running most of the day and there is usually a pile of sawdust in the corner that needs sweeping. People from around Umbergaon know where we are because of the big stacks of planks out front. It isn't a fancy office or anything like that. It’s just a workshop where we get things done. My father started this and now we just keep it going. Sometimes the machines act up or the weather makes the wood hard to work with, but we manage. You’ll usually find someone here from seven in the morning until late evening. We don’t have a big reception area, so most people just walk straight into the shed to talk to us. It’s loud because of the cutting, so you might have to shout a bit to be heard. We handle a lot of different wood types depending on what we can get. It is basic work, really. Nothing too complicated, just cutting and sizing things for people who need them. Most of our neighbors are doing the same kind of physical labor. It’s a busy road with lots of traffic going by all day long.
