Our factory is located at Plot No 5001/a within the GIDC Estate. It’s a big site and we spend most of our time between the looms and the storage area. Toray Kusumgar handles advanced textiles, which sounds fancy, but the reality is just a lot of machinery and rolls of fabric everywhere. The air inside is kept at a certain humidity so the threads don't snap, which makes it feel a bit different from the outside. We have quite a few people working shifts here, so the place never really sleeps. There’s always someone checking the tension on the machines or packing finished goods into boxes. It’s not like those office jobs where people sit at computers all day; we’re mostly on our feet. The GIDC estate is a maze of similar-looking buildings, and sometimes the delivery drivers get lost trying to find 5001/a. We usually have to send someone out to the main road to wave them in. We don't have a big marketing department or anything. Our work speaks for itself when the fabric comes off the line. It's a lot of focus and making sure the patterns are right. When the machines are running well, it’s a good feeling. When they break, it’s a long night for the maintenance guys. That’s just life in a textile mill, and we've all grown used to the constant hum of the looms.
