Om Motors

You can find us at Maduban Apartment, right next to the HDFC Bank on the main Silvassa Vapi Road. Being on the main road means there is always a lot of dust and movement outside. We spend most of our time at Om Motors looking at engines and dealing with mechanical issues. It’s a straightforward business. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to get the cars back on the road. The shop is small, but it fits what we need. Sometimes it gets crowded when too many people show up at once, especially on Saturday mornings. We usually have grease on our clothes by ten in the morning. That’s just part of the job. The bank next door is a good landmark for people who haven't been here before. We’ve seen the road change quite a bit over the years, with more buildings going up. But we’re still here in the same unit. We don't do much advertising; most people just see us as they drive past or hear about us from someone else in the neighborhood. It’s a lot of manual labor and figuring out why a machine isn’t making the right sound. We like the work, even when it’s hot and tiring. It’s a solid way to make a living in this part of town. We just open the shutters early and work until the sun goes down.
