It is a big process that involves a lot of water and heat and large rolls of finished paper. The air inside the mill always has that specific damp, earthy smell that comes with paper making. We have a lot of people working here, from the guys on the floor to the people in the small office block. It is a 24-hour kind of operation sometimes because the machines do not like to be turned off. We handle a lot of recycled material and it is messy work but it feels productive. Every day we see the trucks lined up to take the rolls away to different parts of the country. When the railway gate closes, everything stops for a minute, and then we get back to it once the train passes. It is a steady, hard-working environment.
