Pankaj Timmber Ind

The smell of sawdust is the first thing you notice when you walk into Pankaj Timmber Ind. We’ve been at Plot No. 321 in the GIDC for quite a few years now. It’s a lot of heavy lifting here. We get big logs in on trucks, and then we have to move them around and cut them down to size. It’s physical work that leaves you tired by the end of the day. We have saws that scream all morning, and you have to wear earplugs if you want to keep your hearing. We don’t have a fancy showroom. If you want to see the wood, you just walk out into the yard and look at the stacks we have piled up. Sometimes it rains and we have to scramble to cover everything up with plastic sheets so the timber doesn't get ruined. It’s a bit of a gamble with the weather sometimes. My uncle started this place, and we’ve just kept it going. We don't spend money on ads or anything like that. People just know we’re here in the industrial area. We sell to builders and furniture makers, and they usually just pull their trucks right up to the gate. We load them up, settle the bill, and they go on their way. It’s a simple business, really. No need to make it more complicated than it is.
