Our place is out on Plot No. 201 in the New G.I.D.C. area of Gundlav. If you’re driving through Valsad, you’ll see plenty of factories, and we are just one of the ones making sure things get wrapped up properly. We spend most of our time surrounded by rolls of material and stacks of finished stuff waiting for the loaders to arrive. It gets loud when all the machines are running at once, so you usually have to shout a bit to be heard. We don’t have much in the way of a fancy lobby; it’s mostly just the production floor and a small corner for the paperwork. The humidity here in Gujarat can be a pain for some of the materials, so we have to watch the storage areas closely. Most of the guys have been with us for years and they know the quirks of the old machines better than anyone else. We go through a lot of tea during the afternoon slump. It’s just honest work, making sure things are packed tight so they don’t rattle around during transport. Sometimes the trucks show up late and we have to stay past dark to get everything moved out. It isn't a glamorous job, but every product needs a box or a wrap before it goes anywhere else. We just try to stay organized among all the cardboard and plastic that fills the space.
