Lumisense Optoelectronics is tucked away in the New Gundlav Notified Industrial Estate. We are at Plot 107/108, which is a big space but it’s mostly filled with machinery and raw materials. It’s an industrial area, so it’s not exactly the prettiest place to work, but it suits what we do. There is always a layer of dust on the windows from the trucks driving past on the dirt roads. We spend most of our time on the factory floor, making sure the optoelectronic parts are being put together correctly. It’s a lot of repetitive work, but we’ve got a good rhythm going. Our crew is made up of local people who know their way around a soldering iron. We don’t have a big office for meetings; we usually just talk over the noise of the fans in the warehouse. The summers here are incredibly hot, so we try to get most of the heavy lifting done early in the morning. We don’t have a fancy logo or a big sign out front, just the plot number painted on the gate. It’s a no-nonsense kind of place. We focus on getting the orders out to the customers without making a big fuss about it. We’ve been in this spot for a long time and we know all the other business owners on this street. It’s a hard-working neighborhood and we are glad to be part of it.
