Gita Wood Industries is sitting right here at Plot No. 35 in the GIDC. You can usually tell where we are by the sound of the saws and the piles of sawdust near the back door. We work with all kinds of timber, cutting it down to size for whatever is needed. The workshop is an old building, and it has that good smell of fresh-cut wood all day long. We have a few guys who have been handling the lathes and saws for decades. They don't need much direction anymore. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there, just a steady one. Sometimes the wood shipments are late, and we have to shuffle the schedule around, but that’s just how it goes. We don't have a fancy showroom. If you want to see what we are doing, you just walk onto the floor, but watch out for the wood chips. We make pallets, crates, and some basic furniture parts. It’s a dusty job, and we are always cleaning our goggles. We like being in the GIDC because everything we need is close by. The tea stall down the road is where we go when the machines are cooling down. It’s a simple life here at the wood shop, just measuring twice and cutting once until the day is done. We just keep the saws running and try to stay out of the heat when we can.
