Sola Tex

Sola Tex is located at C1b 2707/7 in the Gidc area. It’s mostly just a large room filled with fabric and machines. We spend most of our time dealing with the textiles. The sound of the looms or whatever machine is running that day fills the whole space. It’s not the kind of place where you’d want to wear a nice suit because there is lint and dust everywhere. We have some large tables where we roll out the cloth to check it for any holes or loose threads. The lighting isn't the best, so we have some extra lamps near the inspection area. Our plot in Gidc is surrounded by other factories, so it’s always noisy outside too. We usually have a lot of scrap pieces of fabric left over at the end of the week. We keep them in big bins near the door. There is a small sink in the back where we wash up, and a tiny stove for making tea. It’s a basic operation. We don’t have a website or anything like that; we just work with the people who know us and come by the unit. The paperwork is mostly hand-written in ledgers. Every morning we sweep the floor, but by noon it’s covered in thread again. It’s just the way things go when you’re working with textiles in a place like this. We stay until the day's batch is done. It takes time to get the colors and the weave just right for each job.
