Meera Acrylic

The shop here at Plot No. 201/A is right in the middle of Phase-2 in Vapi. If you’re coming down this way, you’ll probably notice the Agarwal Paper Mill first because it’s a big landmark around here. We work with acrylic mostly. It’s a clean material but it leaves these tiny static shavings everywhere that stick to your clothes. Vapi can get really humid, so we keep the fans running all day long just to stay sane. Our space isn't huge, but we’ve managed to fit everything we need into this GIDC plot. There’s a lot of cutting and polishing going on from eight to six. Sometimes the power flickers, which is typical for the estate, so we just take a break and sit outside for a bit. We keep a lot of sheets stacked up against the back wall. You have to be careful moving them so they don't get scratched. It’s not a corporate setup at all. There are usually a few tea cups sitting on the workbench and some old calendars on the wall. We mostly just focus on getting the shapes right. It’s simple work, really. We don’t do much talking when the saws are running because you can't hear anything anyway. Most of the neighbors are in the same boat, just trying to get their daily production done before the trucks arrive at the end of the day.
