If you look for Plot No 224 in the GIDC, you will find Kawa Engineering Works Pvt. Ltd. It is a noisy place, mostly because of the grinding and the metal hitting metal. We have been in this spot for years. The floor is covered in fine metal shavings and oil, no matter how much we try to clean it. We wear heavy boots and work shirts that have seen better days. There is a small desk in the front where we keep the ledger and the phone. It rings quite a bit, mostly people asking if their parts are ready. We don't have a fancy website or a sales team. Most people find us because they saw our sign or someone told them we were here. The lighting inside is a bit dim, but we have big lamps over the workbenches so we can see what we are doing. In the evenings, we usually sit outside for a bit before locking up. The GIDC area gets a little quieter then. We have a few old fans that rattle when they are on high, but they do the job. It’s hard work, and your hands get dirty within the first five minutes of the shift. We just try to keep the machines running and the orders moving out the door. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s what we do every day without complaining much.
