Vimal Rolling Mill is located out in the Gidc Estate, specifically in the Plastic Zone at Plot No. 4801/4815. It’s a noisy place, as you’d expect for a rolling mill. There is always the sound of metal and the hum of the machines running. We spend our shifts in the middle of all that, keeping an eye on the production lines. The Plastic Zone is a busy part of the estate, with lots of activity starting early in the morning. Our plot is tucked away among many others, and it can be a bit of a maze if you aren’t familiar with the GIDC layout. We’ve got a lot of heavy equipment packed into the space, so there isn’t much room for a fancy sitting area or anything like that. Most of us are usually wearing work clothes and getting our hands dirty. It’s hard work, especially when the summer heat hits the metal roof, but it’s the job. We don’t spend much time on talk. We just focus on the mill and making sure the output is what it should be. The logistics of moving stuff in and out of the Plastic Zone can be a headache sometimes with the truck traffic, but we manage. It’s a no-nonsense environment where the priority is always the physical work happening on the floor.
