Captain Batteries

Our shop, Captain Batteries, is located on Daman Road in Chala, right near the Bhagyoday Society and the Kotak Mahindra bank. It’s tucked in near Bhagyoday Society. The place isn't very big, but we pack a lot of stock into the shelves. We mostly deal with car batteries and those big ones for home power backups. They are incredibly heavy, so my back usually hurts by the end of the day from lifting them onto the charging racks. There is always a faint smell of acid and plastic in the air. We spend a lot of time testing old batteries to see if they can still hold a charge or if they’re just dead weight. Most people come in when their car won’t start in the morning, so they’re usually in a bit of a hurry. We just try to get them sorted out so they can get back on the road. The shop floor is concrete and we have to keep it clean so no one slips on a spill. We don't do much in the way of fancy displays. We just have the boxes stacked up where we can reach them. Sometimes the Daman Road traffic makes it hard for customers to park right in front, but they usually find a spot nearby. We’ve been serving this little corner of Chala for quite a while now. It’s just simple, honest work keeping people’s engines running.
