You can find us in Valsad, tucked away behind Motaparsiwad. A good landmark to look for is Bakabhai’s Garage; once you see that, you are pretty much there. It’s a busy little pocket of Gujarat. Being near a garage means there is usually some noise from tools and engines, but we don't mind it. It makes the place feel alive. Our building is a straightforward structure, nothing too modern, just a place that stands up to the heat. Inside, Alok and the rest of the crew spend the day sorting through whatever tasks are on the pile. We have some old ceiling fans that creak a bit, but they do the job of keeping the air moving. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that. If the bell rings, whoever is closest to the door goes to see who it is. It’s a very informal way of doing things, but it works for us. We’ve been in this spot for years and the neighbors are all familiar faces. Sometimes we stand out front and chat with the mechanics from the garage when things are slow. We don't have a big mission statement on the wall. We just show up in the morning, do the work, and try to get home in time for dinner. It’s a practical, local business and we don't try to pretend to be anything else.
