BHUMA ICE & COLD STORAGE

Being at BHUMA ICE & COLD STORAGE means we are always dealing with the cold, even when it is boiling outside in the GIDC area. We are located at Post Jahamadchi, right across from the local pond, or the Talav as everyone calls it. Having the water nearby is nice when we take a break outside. The cold storage part is a huge insulated space where it stays freezing all year round. We wear heavy jackets even in May. You can hear the hum of the cooling machines from the street. It is a constant sound that you eventually stop noticing. We spend our days moving blocks of ice or stacking crates of things that need to stay chilled. It is heavy work and your breath fogs up as soon as you step inside the storage rooms. The Jahamadchi area is a bit quiet compared to the big city, which we like. Most of our neighbors are other factories or empty plots. When the trucks come to pick up ice, the whole place gets busy for an hour or two. Then it goes back to being quiet again. We keep an eye on the gauges to make sure the temperature doesn't move too much. It is a simple business but it requires us to be here all the time. The pond across the road attracts a lot of birds in the evening. It’s a good view.
