Desai Bricks Factory

We have been here in Valpoi for quite a while now. My family started Desai Bricks Factory because there was a lot of building going on and someone had to supply the materials. We are situated right near Pali Thane. Most days it is just a lot of moving clay and watching the kilns. It is not a clean job, you know? You go home covered in dust every single day, but that is just how it is when you are making bricks for the neighborhood. People around here know us by name. They just drive up, tell us what they need for their house or their wall, and we see what we have ready in the yard. Sometimes the weather does not cooperate and the bricks do not dry as fast as we would like. That can be a bit of a headache when we have a big order waiting. We do not have some big fancy office or anything. It is just the factory and a small space to sit. We spend most of our time out there on the ground anyway. Dealing with the heat in North Goa is something you just get used to after a couple of years. We try to keep things simple here. There is no point in making things complicated when you are just dealing with earth and fire. We just keep our heads down and get the work done, one stack at a time.
